Instructions for application

For the application of Sika Boom 400 Fire, all generally accepted building and construction rules apply.

Preparation of the Support

The substrate must be clean, sound and homogeneous, free of oil, grease, dust and loose or friable particles. Paint, cement laitance and other weakly adhering elements must be removed. Sika Boom 400 Fire bonds without primer or activator. Moisten the substrate with clean water to allow the foam to cure properly and also to avoid a second expansion.

Application Method / Tools

Spray Application: Shake the Sika Boom® 400 Fire aerosol well for at least 20 seconds before use. Shake again after long interruptions of use. Enleto the extrusion nozzle of the adapter. Screw the Sika Boom 400 Fire aerosol adaptor onto the gun adaptor.

The amount of expanding foam extruded can be adjusted by pulling the trigger more or less or by turning the gun knob up or down. Fill deep joints in several layers. To ensure that each layer expands and poly- merizes sufficiently, spray water between each layer.

Do not fill joints completely as the foam expands during curing. When filling small cavities, use an extension tube (performance is less with an extension tube). All structural components must be temporarily secured until the foam has cured. Do not remove a can of Sika Boom 400 Fire from the gun. Removing an aerosol from the gun without careful cleaning with Sika Boom® Cleaner will damage the application gun. Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version)

Application to the extrusion nozzle:

Shake the spray can of Sika Boom 400 Fire well for at least 20 seconds before use. Shake again after long interruptions of use. Remove the extrusion nozzle from the adapter and remove the adapter from the can.

Screw the extrusion nozzle firmly onto the valve without pressing the trigger or the valve. The amount of expanding foam extruded can be adjusted by pressing the trigger of the extrusion nozzle more or less. Fill the joints pro- bottoms in several layers.

To ensure that each layer expands and cures sufficiently, spray water between each layer. Do not fill the joints completely as the foam expands during the curing process. All construction elements must be temporarily fixed until the foam has completely cured.

Tool Cleaning

Clean all tools and application equipment immediately with Sika Boom®-Cleaner.
Once cured, product residues can only be removed mechanically.

Limitations

  • The minimum temperature of the aerosol for application should be +10°C.
  • To obtain a good quality foam, the temperature of the aerosol should not vary more than 10°C from the ambient temperature.
  • Protect aerosols from direct sunlight and temperatures above +50°C (danger of explosion).
  • For proper curing of the foam, humidity is necessary.
  • Insufficient moisture can lead to unintentional expansion of the foam (post expansion).
  • Do not contact the extruded foam with acetone or Sika Boom® Cleaner, as this will alter the expansion and curing process.
  • Do not fill the joints completely as the foam expands during curing.
  • Do not use on : Polyethylene(PE), Polypropy- lene(PP), Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE / Teflon), silicon, oil, grease and other non-stick agents.
  • Sika Boom 400 Fire is not UV resistant.
  • Read all safety and technical recommendations on the Sika Boom® 400 Fire can.
